Friday Named D3hoops.com Regional Coach of the Year

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg men's basketball head coach Don Friday has earned regional coach of the year recognition from D3hoops.com. 

 

After guiding his team to an historic 2021-22 campaign, Friday's has been recognized as the D3hoops.com Region 4 Coach of the Year.   

 

Friday led the Lions to the most successful season in program history this winter. He guided Penn State Harrisburg to its second victory over a top-10 team in NCAA Tournament play; this time a 63-53 win over No. 9 St. Joseph (Conn.) after his squad knocked off No. 6 Johns Hopkins in the big dance in 2020. Friday and his staff led the Blue & White to their second straight conference championship, a program-record 24 wins and .857 win percentage, and a 13-game win streak that stands as the longest in Penn State Harrisburg history. For his efforts, he was named the HoopDirt.com NCAA Division III National Coach of the Week in early February after earning the 200th victory of his career.

 

Under Friday's watch, Donyae Baylor-Carroll secured a pair of all-region accolades this season, while Dylan Daniels, Brandon Coleman, and Nate Curry joined him as United East All-Conference honorees. Baylor-Carroll, Daniels, and Zegary Scott III each earned conference player of the week awards this year as well.
