Men's Basketball Holds Off Morrisville to Win 13th In a Row

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. - On the second day of a back-to-back in New York, Penn State Harrisburg's men's basketball team battled to an 80-72 victory over United East rival SUNY Morrisville on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 29. The gritty win was the team's 13th in a row.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Penn State Harrisburg (16-1, 9-0 United East) traded blows with a scrappy Morrisville team (5-12, 2-7 United East), absorbed the Mustangs' best shot, and came away with a hard-fought road victory on Saturday afternoon to remain undefeated in conference play.

Donyae Baylor-Carroll poured in a game-high 24 points and dished out seven assists, Nate Curry nearly posted a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds, and Brandon Coleman continued his strong play with 13 points.

The game was a back-and-forth affair throughout and each time the Lions appeared ready to put things out of reach in the second half, the home team responded with timely buckets to stay within striking distance. Leading 69-64 with three and a half to play, the Blue & White finally put Morrisville away when Coleman buried a 3-ball from straightaway off a Baylor-Carroll find before Baylor-Carroll converted a layup off a Zegary Scott III feed with 2:33 remaining.

The Mustangs eventually pulled to within six but with less than 30 seconds to play, they were forced to foul. Baylor-Carroll and Scott made them pay, as the duo combined to go 6-for-6 from the charity stripe in the final 27 seconds to put the game on ice.

The Lions led by three at halftime and held off a push by the home team early in the second half before stretching their advantage to as many as 10 points thanks to four straight Baylor-Carroll free throws and a Curry 3-pointer with 7:33 left to play.

After a strong start, Morrisville led as late as the six-minute mark of the opening half but Penn State Harrisburg put together a 10-2 run capped by one of Baylor-Carroll's three first-half jumpers from beyond the arc to pull ahead and create some breathing room heading into the break.
