Men's Hoops Tops Scranton to Win Sixth Straight

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's basketball team defeated Scranton 71-60 in non-conference action at the Capital Union Building to win its sixth game in a row on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 11.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Donyae Baylor-Carroll poured in a game-high 27 points in Penn State Harrisburg's double-digit victory over Scranton (4-5) on Saturday afternoon. Nate Curry recorded an 11-point, 11-rebound double-double and Dylan Daniels added a dozen points in the win.

Trailing 48-47 with less than 16 minutes left to play, the Lions (9-1) ground out a 9-0 run over the ensuing 6:16 that began with an Alex Leiba turn around layup at the 15:35 mark and ended with a Pedro Rodriguez midrange jumper with 8:54 remaining.

The Royals cut the deficit to four with five and a half minutes left but Curry quickly converted a layup on the other end before Leiba and Dylan Daniels added back-to-back layups of their own to push the lead to 64-54 with 3:36 to play. Baylor-Carroll connected with Daniels for two more buckets in the closing minutes to keep the advantage at double-digits before Brandon Coleman iced the game with a pair of free throws in the final seconds.

Baylor-Carroll was unconscious to begin the game, knocking down five consecutive attempts and adding a pair of free throws to tally the team's first 13 points. Scranton's Jackson Danzig tried to match him, hitting his first four 3-point attempts to keep the visitors within striking distance. Before the opening half was through, Baylor-Carroll racked up 25 points, while Danzig netted 21.

The Blue & White took a 42-34 lead into halftime but the Royals opened the second half with a 14-5 spurt that got them back in it before Penn State Harrisburg's defense ramped up down the stretch.
