MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Thanks to his stellar efforts over the weekend, Penn State Harrisburg baseball player Bret Williams has been named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week.
Williams had a monster Opening Day in helping lead the Lions to a doubleheader sweep of Susquehanna on Sunday afternoon, March 21. On the first pitch he saw this spring, the outfielder hit a 3-run home run and followed it up with a 2-run double later in the 7-2 victory. The senior followed it up with a timely grand slam in the second game of the twin bill, as his seventh-inning blast put the Blue & White ahead for the first time in an eventual 5-4, extra-inning win in the nightcap. Across the pair of victories, the Mount Carmel, Pa. native slashed .500/.556/1.375 and racked up 9 RBI on four hits including a pair of home runs and a double to go along with 2 runs, a walk, and 11 total bases.
Penn State Harrisburg travels to Mt. Aloysius for another non-conference doubleheader this afternoon. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
