Crammer Hits Three HR’s in Two Games; Harrisburg Wins Both

Middletown, Pa – The Harrisburg Blue and White Baseball Team were hot all day, despite the extremely cold weather at their double header against Penn State York Sunday.  Travis Crammer (Cerritos, Cal / Cerritos) smashed two homers over the left field wall on way to a thrilling 6-5 first game victory.  In the second game Harrisburg hit the ball well, including a third homer by Crammer, on way to a 16-1 Victory.

Pitcher Clint Hicks (State College, Pa. / State College) got things started right defensively, striking out his first batter on way to a three up and out inning.  York's pitcher would not have the same luck.  The infielder Crammer led the team off with a deep ball over the left field wall for a 1-0 lead in the first.

Crammer's next time up, a homerun over the left field wall again.   This time for additional two runs thanks too Dalton Trolinger's (Carlisle Pa. / Cumberland Valley) base hit to start the second inning.  Harrisburg finished the inning up 4-0 and kept that lead until the fourth and fifth when York got one run each inning to put them within 2.   Richard Baker scored an unearned run thanks to taking one for the team and then stealing a base before getting brought in by a Trolinger bunt that stopped dead in bounds by only an inch for a base hit and the RBI.

Penn State York did not give up and rallied back with a three run inning in the top of the sixth.  Brian Balshy (Palmyra, Pa. / Palmyra) answered right back by being 3-3, including a double and his clutch RBI single to knock in Crammer for the game winning run.

Pitcher Tom Chaney (Lancaster, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg) came in for Harrisburg to close out the first game.  He did so in style striking out two and getting three straight outs to get his first win of the season.

The momentum from the first win continued into game two as Harrisburg rolled through York on way to a 16-1 win.  Jim Klingerman (Telford, Pa. / Souderton) earned his second win of the year throwing for four innings and only giving up one hit.

Harrisburg's offense in the second game included 5 doubles and 2 HR's.  Crammer got his 3rd of the day and also went 3-3 in game two of the double header.  Balshy finished his strong day also getting a homerun.

It was great to see the guys come together and play solid on both offense and defense.  They got on base by playing smart and hitting the ball well.  Hopefully the Lions can take the momentum and focus with them to their double header at Wesley this Wednesday.
