MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – After falling by the slimmest of margins to a talented Manchester team that received honorable mention in D3baseball.com's preseason rankings on Mar. 2, Penn State Harrisburg responded by picking up its first win of 2013 the very next day.  The Lions split a doubleheader with Ursinus in Myrtle Beach, S.C., falling 7-3 in game one before downing the Bears 11-7 in the late game. 

The first contest saw Ursinus jump out to an early 1-0 lead thanks to a lead-off home run.  The Blue & White left runners on third base in back-to-back innings before the Bears scored two more runs. 

The Lions got on the board in the bottom of the fifth when junior Travis Crammer (Cerritos, Cal. / Cerritos) doubled and drove in junior Dalton Trolinger (Carlisle, Pa. / Cumberland Valley), cutting the deficit to two runs. 

Ursinus got four more in the top of the sixth to extend the lead to 7-1 but Harrisburg answered back in the bottom of the stanza when freshman Brian Balshy (Palmyra, Pa. / Palmyra) launched a bomb over the left/centerfield fence.  His two-run homer was the first of his collegiate career.  It drove in junior Colton Houseal (Maytown, Pa. / Donegal) and gave the Lions some life heading into the final inning. 

Unfortunately, Penn State Harrisburg left runners on first and second in the bottom of the seventh and dropped the opener to the Bears. 

The second outing was a completely different story.

The Lions scored two runs thanks to Ursinus errors in the top of the first inning and never looked back.  Harrisburg's bats really came to life in the second when the Blue & White plated five runs and broke the game wide open early. 

Sophomore Will Chaney (Lancaster, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg) was stellar on the mound, giving the Lions six innings of quality pitching while allowing just four hits and one run.  The Lancaster native picked up his first win of the season in dominating fashion. 

Harrisburg added four more runs before thwarting the Bears late push in the bottom of the seventh.  The victory improves the Lions to 1-2 on the year and was Head Coach Ryan Bown's first as Harrisburg skipper.  Bown was a college standout as a member of Ursinus' baseball team.
