Knull Takes His Game to Arizona

For the second summer in a row, recent grad Nick Knull (Enola, PA/Cedar Cliff) is taking his game on the road.  After playing his summer baseball in the heartland of America in the River Valley League during 2010, he has headed to the desert to play in the Arizona Summer League.  The Arizona Summer League is a short- season instructional summer league with games being played in Yuma, Arizona.  The league allows collegiate and free agent pros the opportunity to showcase their playing abilities in front of scouts from independent and foreign pro leagues.  Each day they also receive instruction from former Major League and minor league players and coaches.

Knull is playing third base for the San Diego Surf Dawgs in the four team league.  After ten games, he is batting .261 with 4 runs scored, 9 rbi, and an on-base percentage of .433.  Knull currently leads the Surf Dawgs in rbi and triples and is tied for the team lead in hit by pitches.

Knull is enjoying his time in the Arizona Summer League while gaining experience against good competition and a taste of minor league baseball.  He hopes to return to Arizona for the Arizona Winter League where there are more opportunities for exposure to scouts.
