Daniels Shines In Dominant Victory Over Messiah

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's men's basketball team never trailed in a convincing 68-48 victory over Messiah at the Capital Union Building on Monday night, Nov. 29.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Penn State Harrisburg (6-1) jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in a 20-point victory over Messiah (3-4) on Monday night. Dylan Daniels finished one block shy of a triple-double with 12 points, 11 rebounds, and nine rejections. Donyae Baylor-Carroll netted a game-high 15 points, Nate Curry posted a 12-point, 12-rebound double-double, and Brandon Coleman added 11 points.

Baylor-Carroll opened the game with a corner 3-ball and the Lions never looked back. A Coleman 3-pointer stretched the lead to 16-9 at the 11:43 mark before the Falcons cut the deficit to two with 5-0 spurt. Chris Haynes buried a triple and Baylor-Carroll added a layup but the Messiah stayed within striking distance thanks to a Matt Glogowski jumper from beyond the arc.

The Blue & White turned the tide when Daniels made a monster block on a Glogowski dunk attempt that led to another Haynes 3-ball on the other end. Zegary Scott III followed it up with three layups and the home team took a 10-point lead into the break.

After halftime, Penn State Harrisburg stretched the lead to 16 following a Curry put back with 16:04 left to play. The visitors made a push by putting together a 13-4 run that cut the deficit to a more manageable seven points with 10:52 remaining but a pair of Curry free throws and a Baylor-Carroll triple halted the spurt.

The Lions put things out of reach for good with a 14-3 run that included a Daniels slam and Curry jumper that stretched the advantage to 23 with less than three minutes left to play.
