Lions Struggle at Messiah Invitational

Lions Struggle at Messiah Invitational

The Penn State Harrisburg women's cross country team struggled at the Messiah Invitational Saturday September 27th finishing 9th out of the nine teams participating.  Fortunately, Laura Hernandez (Toa Alta, Puerto Rico / Academia Discipulos de Cristo) was able to bring something positive finishing on top for the Lions.

Her time of 30:33 was good enough for 50th place overall in the strong crowd of just under 100 runners.  Finishing  just behind her at 52nd was Rachel Sechrist (Allentown, Pa. / Salisbury) with her time of 30:34.  The Lions will continue to work to improve on their finishes and getting a chance to run on their home course next weekend should help some.

"Our ladies fought a nice fight and ran well in two packs. We were thin due to injury and a gnarly and warm up hill first two mile course." Head coach Danielle Lynch continued with,  "we will see some of these same teams again at our home meet next Friday at Shank Park in Derry Township. We will see others at our CAC meet in November."

The Lions will host their annual Fall invitational next Saturday at Shank Park in Hummelstown Pa.
