Sechrist Leads Ladies at Home Invitational

HUMMELSTOWN, Pa. – For the second-straight week, Penn State Harrisburg freshman Rachel Sechrist (Allentown, Pa. / Salisbury) was the team's highest-finishing runner.  The frosh finished the 6k race at Shank Park with a time of 28:37, good enough for 15th place overall.  The individual championship was won by Penn State Abington's Valerie Santangelo with a time of 24:23 while Albright took home the team title thanks to four of the school's runners finishing inside the top ten.

Following Sechrist for Penn State Harrisburg was senior Alisha House (Crownpoint, N.M. / Thoreau) and Kaitlyn Carmo (Palmyra, Pa. / Palmyra Area) in 20th and 21st places, respectively.  House posted a time of 31:10 while Carmo crossed the line in 31:22.

   

Sophomore Emily Done (South Plainfield, N.J. / Union Catholic Regional) and freshman Rebecca Bailey (Tobyhanna, Pa. / Notre Dame) earned top 25 finishes thanks to times of 31:35 and 32:19, respectively.  Freshman Madison Serb (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin) and senior Katryna Stegmeier (Nesquehoning, Pa. / Tamaqua Area) just missed the top 25 and came home back-to-back in the 26th and 27th spots.

   

The Lions had another pair of women finish consecutively when sophomore Jasmine Broadnax (Secane, Pa. / Upper Dauphin) and senior Amelia McMullen (Hershey, Pa. / Hershey) came home in 30th and 31st places, respectively.  Junior Oneisha Gaines-Rodgers (Philadelphia, Pa. / Philadelphia School For Girls) rounded out the Blue & White runners and took home the 37th spot.

   

Next week, the ladies will look to build on their performances at their hometown course when they travel to Lancaster Bible to take part in the Charger Invitational on Saturday morning, Oct. 12.
