  • Lions Fall in Season Finale
    October 30, 2016
    Penn State Harrisburg traveled to Wilkes University for their last two matches of the season as they took on Wilkes and Rutgers-Camden. In the first match, Penn State Harrisburg could not find their footing against a strong serving team as the Colonels kept the Lions off balanced throughout the match. Wilkes would take the first match 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-21). In match two the Lions took on Rutgers-Camden. The Lions came out strong taking the first set 25-21. But Rutgers would fight back coming from behind in the last three sets before taking the match 3-1 (21-25, 28-26, 25-18, 25-16).
  • Spartans Prove Too Much For Lions

    The Lions looked to end conference play with a big win against York College (Pa.). The Lions started the match off slow dropping the first set 25-13, but came back in set two leading the set the whole way before York taking it in the end 25-23. In set three, the Lions again came out firing. They jumped on the Spartans at the start of the set but could not find an answer losing the third set 25-23, and the match 3-0.
  • Lions Knock-Off Wildcats
    October 26, 2016
    Penn State Harrisburg took on Penn College in their final home match of the year. The Lions looked to break a losing skid as they entered set one. Penn College looked to break out early keeping the set close, but with some unforced errors and late kills by the Lions, the Lions took set one 25-21. In set two, the Lions could not pull away from the Wildcats, but again some late kills by the Lions pushed them over the top claiming the 25-20 win. In the third and deciding set, the Lions looked to end it as they came out on fire putting together an eight point and two five point runs to take the set 25-7 and the match 3-0.

    The Lions entered the day looking to bounce back after a tough loss to Mary Washington last night but Christopher Newport and Washington and Lee proved too much for the young Lion squad.
  • Lions Fall to the Eagles

    The young Harrisburg squad fought hard during their match against the 14th ranked Mary Washington Eagles but fell short in the end. The Lions could not find an answer for an Eagles team that hit .439 % with five different people collecting five or more kills. With the Eagles offense rolling the Lions fell in the end 3-0 (25-15, 25-11, 25-9).

  • Lions Can Not Find Answer Against the Knights

    After a tough match last night the Lions could not find a groove against Southern Virginia. The Lions fought hard but could not find an answer for the hard hitting Knights. Throughout the three sets the Knights out hit the Lions while recording 13 blocks to take the match 3-0 (25-8, 25-17, 25-9).
  • Lions Fall to the Bobcats
    October 14, 2016
    The Lions took on CAC foe Frostburg State for a home match held at Lower Dauphin high school. In set one, the Lions kept it close early, but the Bobcats pulled away late to take the set 25-19. In set two, the Lions looked to bounce back, but with another late rally from Bobcats again took set two 25-19. After a short break the Lions could not find a rhythm in set three falling to the Bobcats in straight sets.
  • Lions Fight Hard But Fall to Susquehanna

    The Lions looked to slow down a red hot Susquehanna team early in the first set. The Lions were able to keep it close before the Red Hawks pushed the lead to 14-6. A run by the Lions would bring it within a few points before the Red Hawks would close the set taking set one 25-18. In set two, the Lions got off to a slow start going down 4-0 early. With a strong defense behind them the Lions would fight back keeping in within two points late in the set before two quick kills by the Red Hawks would end the set 25-22. The Lions would fight in the third set but would not have enough left in the tank as they fell 3-0 to Susquehanna.
  • Lions Fall to the Saints

    Penn State Harrisburg looked to open their weekend with a win as they traveled to Arlington Va. to take on CAC Opponent Marymount (Va.). In set one, the Saints came out looking to end the set early, as they led from start to finish taking set one 25-14. In set two, the Lions looked to regroup as they fought hard keeping the set close throughout, but with the set tied up at 22, the Saints would score three unanswered points to take set two 25-22. With a crushing loss in set two the Lions could not find an answer in set three as the saints would take set three and the match three sets to none.
  • Lions Fall in Tri-Match

    The Lions traveled to St. Mary’s City, Md. for a tri-match against St. Mary’s (Md.) and Bridgewater (Va.).
  • Lions Fight Hard But Fall to SeaGulls

    Throughout the match the Lions would fight hard against the Seagulls. In set one, the Seagulls would out hit the Lions hitting an impressive .500, as the Seagulls would take set one 25-11. In sets two and three, the Lions would show more fight fixing some mistakes but not finding the right combination as Salisbury would prove too much, sweeping the Lions, winning the match 3-0.

    Penn State Harrisburg claimed their first ever CAC win against Wesley.
  • Lions Take Down Hood
    September 27, 2016
    After a slow start by the Lions, the Blazers took the early lead before the Lions would tie it up at 21. After a few back and forth points the Blazers would make a late push to take game one 28-26. In set two, the Lions were able to build a small lead and maintain their lead throughout the set claiming the 25-21 win. The Lions would carry the momentum from their set two win forward to the next two sets winning both, to take the match 3-1.
  • Lions Volleyball Dominates on Road
    September 24, 2016
    The Penn State Harrisburg women's volleyball team came ready to play on Saturday September 24th when they traveled to face off against the Cairn Highlanders. The Lions set the tone in the first set with a 25-8 win that built enough confidence and momentum to finish in three straight sets. Harrisburg took the second set 25-9, while the final set was closer, but still Penn State Harrisburg cruised to a 25-19 win.
  • Penn State Harrisburg Drops Close Match to Altoona

    Penn State Harrisburg traveled to Altoona to take on Penn State Altoona, Altoona proved too much for Harrisburg as they fell 3-2.
  • Dutchmen Outlast Lions

    The Lions came out looking to slow down the high flying Dutchmen to improve back to .500. In the first set the Dutchmen out hit the Lions as Lebanon Valley took set one 25-18. The Lions would bounce back in set two, taking it to the visitors before a late rally by the Dutchmen taking the second set 25-22. Lebanon Valley would carry the momentum from the second set to take the third set 25-14 and the match 3-0
  • Red Devils Prove Too Much for Lions

    Penn State Harrisburg traveled to Carlisle, Pa. to take on Dickinson College in a non-conference match up. The Lions fell to the Red Devils in four sets, 3-1.
  • Penn State Harrisburg Splits First Day of Warrior Classic

    Penn State Harrisburg traveled to Williamsport (Pa.) for the Warrior Classic held at Lycoming College. The Lions split their matches on the first day beating Misericordia 3-1 before falling to York (Pa.) 3-0.
  • Lions Lose Close Game on Day Two of Warrior Classic

    Penn State Harrisburg finished up the second day of the Warrior Classic at Lycoming College. The Lions would fall in both matches on the day, losing to Dickinson in a heartbreaker 3-2 and Lycoming 3-0.

    Penn State Harrisburg volleyball senior Melissa Orlandini is the lone senior on a young Lions squad in 2016. Orlandini is a civil engineering major who has a deep love for volleyball, whether it’s playing with her teammates, recreationally, or watching the Penn State women’s team or Kerri Walsh Jennings compete. She and the Lions are 2-1 to start the year and will compete at the Warrior Tip-Off Classic hosted by Lycoming this weekend. INTRODUCING … Melissa Orlandini.

    Penn State Harrisburg claimed their first wins of the season as they swept their home tri-match, beating Cedar Crest, 3-0 and Albright, 3-2.

    Middletown, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg athletics continues to build and improve their program from year to year and today’s hiring announcement continues this positive trend for the Lions in 2016. Angela Burkett has been named the Penn State Harrisburg women’s volleyball head coach. The Lions were a competitive team in the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) this past season, but in 2016 she will focus on continued improvement and plans to put Penn State Harrisburg in a position to do more than just compete.
