Penn State Harrisburg Splits at Hood College

Penn State Harrisburg traveled to Frederick Md. to take on Hood College and Penn State Schuylkill. Harrisburg left the day splitting the matches, falling to Hood while beating Schuylkill.

 

In the first match of the day, the Lions took on host, Hood College. The Blue and White started out the match with a nail biting first set, unfortunately falling short to Hood 31-29. Harrisburg fought back during the second set winning 25-20, but fell short again losing 25-20 and 25-19 finalizing the match at 3-1. Freshman, Madison Chace (Paso Robles, Ca / Cedar Cliff), led the Lions offense with 11 kills, four blocks, and two aces. On defense, Samantha Hines (Millersburg, Pa / Millersburg Area), led the way with 12 digs to anchor the Lions.

 

In the second match of the day, Penn State Harrisburg proved too much for Penn State Schuylkill beating Schuylkill 3-0 (25-3, 25-14. 25-15). Leading the way for the Lions were Melissa Orlandini (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin) and Chace who combined for 19 kills between the two.  Penn State Harrisburg dominated from the service line as well, racking up 22 aces as a team with Deesier Garcia (New York, NY / Hospitality Mangement) claiming seven of them.

 

The Lions will be in action next, this Wednesday, when they travel to Arlington Va. for their first conference game of the year when they take on Marymount at 7 P.M.
