Penn State Harrisburg Splits In Tri-Match Play

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Saturday Penn State Harrisburg's Women's Volleyball team played host to both Penn College and King's College. In game one against Penn College the Lions put on a dominant performance to get the sweep and take some revenge against the Wildcats who had swept Harrisburg in their two previous meetings.

The Lions were impressively dominant on both sides of the net the entire game. Defensively, Harrisburg was led by Erin Goodyear (Boiling Springs, Pa. / Boiling Springs) who had 15 digs. Offensively, the Lions were paced by Elizabeth Findley (New Providence, Pa. / Solanco) who had 13 assists along with Olivia Umoren (Quincy, Mass. / North Quincy) who shared the team lead of 8 kills with Marion Chipalice (Cape Coral, Fla. / Oasis Charter) who also contributed defensively with 10 digs.

Game two matched Penn State Harrisburg against the 2-0 Lady Monarchs of King's College. The Lions fought hard throughout the game but were unfortunately on the wrong end of a 3-0 defeat. Harrisburg held the lead in two out of the three sets but were unable to hold on to them as King's picked up their intensity on both sides of the net, as they ended the game with 61 digs and 34 kills as a team.

The Lions will next be in action on the road Tuesday September 10th at 7 p.m. against Bryn Athyn.
