Collegeville, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg opened its indoor season with both the men and women traveling to Ursinus College for their first ever NCAA track meet.

The Blue and White faced stiff competition today at the Bow-Tie Classic, including from fellow Capital Athletic Conference schools York (Pa.) and Wesley. Starting the day, the Lions looked to gain vital experience in their first meet while trying to put together a good overall showing.

Some of Harrisburg's top performances for the men came from Korey Christian (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y / Walter Panas) who finished 12th out of 49 runners in the men's 200 meters, followed byJames Keith (Philadelphia, Pa. / Imhotep) finishing in 15th place.

The men's 4x200m relay finished 8th out of 20 teams, while the 4x400m relay finished 3rd out of 22 teams in part to a stellar performance from the Lions anchor Joey Phifer (Union N.J. / Union). The 4x400m relay team qualified for the CAC Championships along with three other individual participants from today's meet.    

Jalen Williams (Easton, Pa. / Easton Area) and Josiah Owhe (Westbury, N.Y. / Westbury)qualified for CAC Championships in the 60 yard dash, while Jason Louis (Lebanon, Pa/ Cedar Crest) qualified for the triple jump. Leading the way for the women was Nicole Lindie (Bowie, Md/ Bowie) who finished 14th of 35 runners in the 800 meter. 

"This was a great feeling being able to establish records and creating standards for our future performances." Head Coach Danielle Lynch said "This weekend was an awesome opportunity for our newcomers to track and field to gain valuable experience and knowledge about what goes on during a meet. We were able to win a few heats today which should help us build momentum going into winter break."

The Lions will wait until after the New Year to get back in action when they travel to Susquehanna University on January 16th.
