Women's Tennis Hands Elizabethtown First Loss

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's women's tennis team handed local foe Elizabethtown its first loss of the young season with a 6-3 victory over the Blue Jays at the Hoverter Tennis Complex on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 22.

 

The Lions (2-1) got their first win of the day when reigning North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Player of the Week Rachael Lim teamed with Sydney Nye to earn an 8-5 decision against Etown's Lenea Riehl and Sarah Donner in the No. 1 doubles contest.

 

Trailing entering singles action, the Blue & White took five of six solo matchups from the Blue Jays (3-1) to pick up the impressive non-conference victory. Lim took a three-setter (6-2, 4-6, 6-0) from Riehl in the top singles contest and Elle Mellott also needed three sets (6-1, 2-6, 6-1) to top Maddy Binder in the No. 3 outing. Vaishnavi Datta went Donner 6-3, 6-1 in the fourth pairing, Courtney Bennett defeated Ava Framm 6-4, 6-0 in the No. 5 match and Claire Hackenberg handled Courtnee Hoff 6-1, 6-1 in the sixth matchup.

 

The Blue & White return to action when they travel to Susquehanna on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 28.
