Eight Lions, Women's Tennis Earn ITA Academic Honors

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has announced that eight Penn State Harrisburg men's and women's tennis players have earned scholar-athlete recognition from the organization, while the women's squad also received the ITA All-Academic Team award for the fifth year in a row.

To earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a player must be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.

Impressively, seven players in Sheiva Ansary, Courtney Bennett, Soorya Chittibabu, Abigail Clifford, Erin Harnish, Elle Mellott and Maria Torre were named ITA Scholar-Athletes for the women. On the men's side, Jared Gluck earned ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). Behind strong efforts in the classroom from the seven ITA Scholar-Athletes and the rest of the Blue & White roster, the women earned team recognition for the fifth consecutive season.
