Lion Tennis Ends Year at Home with Southern Virginia

Middletown, Pa. - The Penn State Harrisburg Men's and Women's tennis team closed out their 2017-2018 season Saturday April 21st at home against the Southern Virginia Knights. Penn State fought hard, but fell in both the men's and women's matches 9-0.

The Lion men's #3 doubles pairing of Austin Stehman/Jonah Melnic came the closest to victory with an 8-4 battle.  Stehman had the tightest contest on the singles side as well, losing in two sets 6-3 and 6-4.

Harrisburg's women had a similar day to the men.  All three doubles matches were taken by the visitors with ease, but the Lions fought back in singles.  Sydney Nye played well and was the only athlete to win a set on the day.  Unfortunately, with the match already determined, the third set was played as a ten point tie breaker that fell in favor of the Knights.

Penn State did not had a tough season, but nearly the entire team should be back next year and with a full season of experience to start the year with.
