Lions Use Strong Second Half To Defeat Chargers

Harrisburg, Pa. – After a slow start, the Penn State Harrisburg Women's Soccer offense found its footing scoring three second half goals in route to a victory over Lancaster Bible. Madison Hemler, Romina Dichio, and Eden Haldeman all recorded their first goal of the season in the win.

How it Happened:

Harrisburg and Lancaster Bible got off to slow starts with most of the game played in the middle third of the field. The Lions one have one scoring opportunity in the first half when Romina Dichio on a breakaway beat the Chargers goalie and sent a ball toward the back of the net. At the last possible moment a Chargers defender cleared the ball off the line, ending the Lions offensive attack.

 

After some adjustments at halftime, the Lions struck four minutes into the second half. After earning a corner kick, Kaeleigh Smedley served a ball into the box that found the head of Madison Hemler who headed the ball into the back of the net for 1-0 lead. In the 61st minute, Danielle Bressler played a ball across the box finding a wide open Romina Dichio for the easy goal. Eden Haldeman would score her first career goal in the 80th minute, when she stole the ball outside the 18 yard box and buried a shot in the back of the goal.
