Blue and White Come Up Short Against York (Pa.)

Middletown, Pa.- This afternoon the Penn State Harrisburg women's soccer team hosted fellow CAC competitor York (Pa.) in a key conference game. The Nittany Lions put up a solid effort throughout the entire game but fell to the Spartans 4-3.

It was easy to see within the first few minutes of the game that both teams were ready to play. The Spartans got the first goal of the game in the fourteenth minute of play. The Nittany Lions bounced back quick with a goal coming from Senior Fay Ansary (Hershey, Pa. / Hershey High School) just three minutes later. Sophomore Erica Hile (Ickesburg, Pa. / West Perry) fought through the middle of the field before crossing the ball to Ansary who easily slid it past Kate Lutte. The Spartans responded with their second goal two minutes later but the Lions were able to get the third goal of the game from Freshman Kristen Stark (Lancaster, Pa. / Donegal). Stark was assisted by Senior defender Kristin Peckman (Chambersburg, Pa. / James Buchanan)

The second half proved to be just as exciting as the first for both teams. The Nittany Lions tied up the game in the sixtieth minute of play by Stark who had her second goal of the game and eighth of the season. Hile took on several York (Pa.) players before crossing the ball across the cage to Stark. Unfortunately, the Spartans responded with two more goals to beat the Lady Lions, 4-3.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Christopher Newport on Saturday for an important conference match up. Kick off is scheduled for 1:30 pm.
