Kazawic Two Scores Not Enough Against Frostburg St.

Penn State Harrisburg's Leann Kazawic (Stanhope, N.J. / Sussex Tech) was on fire in their game Wednesday night against the Frostburg St. Bobcats scoring twice for the Lions. Unfortunately, Kazawick's breakout performance was not enough to lift the Lions past the visiting Bobcats Wednesday evening.

Penn State Harrisburg, still not eliminated from playoff contention, came into Wednesday's game in hopes of stealing a win from Frostburg and possibly sneaking their way into the CAC postseason tournament. The odds were stacked against them as the Bobcats came to play and pounced on the Lions early, scoring two goals in the first 14 minutes of play.  Freshman Leann Kazawic took it upon hersef to keep the Blue and White in the game as she showcased her speed and put her 25 yard shot into the top corner to bring Penn State Harrisburg withing striking distance.

Frostburg rallied from Kazawick's dagger to add two more of their own in the first half to go into the break up 4-1.  As the Lions continued to battle from behind, Kazawick found the back of the net for a second time thanks to a great throughball from her forward counterpart Erica Hile (Ickesburg, Pa. / West Perry) that brought the Lions within two.

Despite continuiing to push at the end, Harrisburg's defensive let downs in the first half proved to be too much to overcome as they had to settle with the 4-2 loss.  Coach Clay had this to say following the match.  "I was very upset with the easy goals we allowed in the first half, but the ladies fought hard to the end and did a great job to win the second half.  We have played some great soccer this season and I am proud of our improvement.  Our record does not show the level of talent or team chemistry we have built this season.  We still have a chance to make the playoffs, but more importantly we need to prove to ourselves that we can play to our upmost potential for a full 90 minute match."

Penn State Harrisburg will need to win out the rest of their season if they hope to make a playoff birth.  The Lions will be on the road Saturday at Mary Washington at 1pm as they look to pick up a much needed road win.
