Lions Shut Out on Road

Chestertown, Md. – The Penn State Harrisburg women's soccer team was feeling confident all week after their most recent 3-2 win over Albright last Saturday.  Their confidence continued to shine through in an impressive first 15 minutes of soccer on the road against the Washington College Shorewomen.    Unfortunately, the final 75 minutes of play would not go so smooth.

Washington got on the board in the 35th minute despite the Lions GK Mackenzie Gates (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin) making the first stop on a breakaway attempt.  Without any Lion defenders tracking back, Washington's Hayley Hartman was easily able to tap in the rebound for the first goal of the game.

Starting the second half down 1-0, the Blue and White hoped to turn things around and play like they started the first half, but today was just not their day.  The game was back and forth for most of the second half, but the Lions did not produce anything threatening when on the attacking side.

Eventually the mental mistakes and lack of intensity added up and Washington scored two more goals in the last ten minutes of the game when the Lions had pushed up to equalize.  Harrisburg has the weekend off to regroup and get ready for their Tuesday match against the Susquehanna Crusaders.  Kickoff is set for 5:00 pm.
