How It Happened

Penn State Harrisburg fell to Penn State Berks in the first round of the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Playoffs on Feb. 25, bringing the team's 2019-2020 campaign to an end.

After Berks jumped out to a five-point lead, Laurel Amey got the Lions offense going, connecting on the first 3-pointer of the game. Jayla Galbreath followed with a 3-pointer of her own to give Harrisburg its first lead of the game. Kendis Butler would add another 3-pointer, extending the advantage to four points. Penn State Berks would answer with a 7-2 to retake the lead. Butler would end the run with her second 3-pointer of the game. Kayla Cade followed with a layup, giving Harrisburg a three-point lead. After Berks tied the game at 18, Anna Mahan hit her first 3-pointer of the game, giving Harrisburg the lead going to the second quarter.

Penn State Berks opened the second quarter on a 15-0 run, taking control of the game. Amey would end the run with a layup off an offense rebound. Galbreath would follow with a 3-pointer, helping the Lions close back within 11-points. Paige Kublalak stormed to the basket for a layup to bring the Lions back within nine points. Berks would close the second quarter on a 10-2 run, holding a 47-30 advantage at the half.

Harrisburg's offense could not find its rhythm in the second half, as Berks scored 31 points in the third quarter to take a 28-point lead. Berks' offense was led by Katie Armstrong who scored a game high 30 points. Harrisburg could not make a fourth quarter run, despite the best efforts of Galbreath who scored 17 points and Butler who scored 13 points and combined to make eight 3-pointers. Berks would cruise to a 103-64 victory.
