How It Happened
Penn State Harrisburg completed the season sweep of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) foe Penn College, winning 74-63 at the Capital Union Building on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 1.
Jayla Galbreath got the Lions (9-9, 7-2) offense started, coming up with an offensive rebound and putting it back for the first points of the game. Anna Mahan would extend the advantage, knocking down a deep 3-pointer. After a 4-0 Penn College run, Laurel Amey connected on her first 3-pointer of the game. Moments later, Galbreath knocked down a 3-pointer to give Harrisburg a 12-7 lead. The Wildcats (4-13, 1-8) would close the quarter on a 6-0 run and take a one-point advantage into the second quarter.
Amey opened the second quarter scoring with a layup that gave the Lions the lead. After a layup by Mahan, Amey drilled her second 3-pointer of the day. Sydney Hemler extended Harrisburg's advantage with a layup off a great pass from Amey. Kayla Cade knocked a 3-pointer and moments later Kendis Butler came away with a steal and found Paige Kubalack for an easy layup as the Lions began to take control of the game. Galbreath connected on another 3-ball and gave Harrisburg a 16-point advantage heading into the half.
Penn College made a push to begin the second half, pulling back to within 11 points. Galbreath would finish a layup to get the Lions offense started in the second half. Amey came away with a steal and score to put Harrisburg back ahead by 15 points. Then, Mahan and Amey hit 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions to put the Blue & White ahead 47-29. Mahan knocked down one final 3-pointer and the Lions held a 15-point advantage entering the final quarter.
Galbreath continued her strong outing by converting a layup to start the scoring in the quarter. Butler would follow with a 3-pointer to give the Lions a 12-point advantage. Galbreath added another 3-pointer but the Wildcats would rally, pulling within three points with under three minutes remaining behind 32 points from Lydia Albert. Butler halted the run by connecting on a deep 3-pointer to give the Lions a six-point lead. With her second 3-pointer of the game, Butler became the school's career leader in 3-pointers made. Galbreath added a pair of free throws, giving Harrisburg an eight-point lead before Butler converted clutch free throws down the stretch to seal the 74-63 victory.

Historical Note
Sophomore Kendis Butler became Penn State Harrisburg's career leader in three-pointers made, drilling her 130th career triple in the fourth quarter. Butler passed previous record-holder Miranda Zeanchock's career mark.
