Lion's Fourth Quarter Surge Brings Home the Win

Dover, DE- Wednesday February 17th, tonight the Penn State Harrisburg women's basketball team took on Wesley in the start to their last week of the regular season. Both teams battled back and forth throughout the first three quarters. The Lions found their momentum in the last three minutes of the game by scoring 15 points and going on to win 69-57.

The home team came out strong in the opening minutes where they grabbed an early lead on Harrisburg. The Lions were able to tie the game up thanks to a three pointer from Rachel Miller (Lebanon, Pa. / Cedar Crest) and a layup from Kiara Carter (Bronx, N.Y / Milton Hershey). Carter went on to dominate the last five minutes of the first with three straight buckets. As the second quarter got underway, Harrisburg led, 25-17, with 3:33 to go. The Wolverines responded with a 7-0 run to try and tie the game up. Harrisburg led at the half, 27-25.  
 
At the beginning of the third, Wesley pulled ahead to a five-point lead over Harrisburg. The Lions answered with a 6-0 run to bring the game within two. The fourth quarter started out very back and forth with a total of nine lead changes within the first five minutes. Senior Jasmine Yanich (Harrisburg, Pa. / Susquehanna Township) drained her first three of the day to put Harrisburg back on track. A few minutes later, Yanich sank her second three to give the Lions the lead, 54-51, with 3:47 to go. Penn State Harrisburg went on to dominate the home team in the last three minutes of play by scoring 15 points. Kaitlyn Carmo (Palmyra, Pa. / Palmyra Area) came up big with seven of the 15 points. Carter led for the Lions with 20 points and 11 rebounds.
 

The Lady Lions will host Mary Washington on Saturday February 20th at 1 pm. This will be the women's last regular season game and Senior Day for three members of the team.
