Carter’s Performance Not Enough against Nationally Ranked Seagulls

Middletown, PA – The Penn State Harrisburg Lady Lions faced off against the #17 ranked Salisbury Seagulls Sunday January 25th.   Despite a valiant first half effort and an impressive game from the Lions Kiara Carter (Bronx, NY. / Milton Hershey), Salisbury's second half performance was too much for Harrisburg to overcome as the Seagull's claimed their tenth win of the season to stay undefeated in Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) play.

From the start of the game Kiara Carter proved she was not going to be pushed around by the nationally ranked Seagulls.  Carter scored the first six points of the game which helped the Lions jump out to an early 6-2 lead.  Salisbury slowly worked themselves back in front and extended into a double-digit lead thanks to an 11-0 run in just under three minutes to take a 17-8 lead with 10:41 left to play in the first half.

The Lions answered back by finishing the first half outscoring Salisbury 12 to 2, which included a three pointer at the buzzer by Alexis Nolan (Beltsville, Md. / St. Vincent Pallotti) to bring Harrisburg within four points 33-29 going into the locker rooms.

Salisbury started the second half putting together their second 11-0 run of the game.  Unfortunately the Lions were not able to regroup like they had in the first and pull off the upset on the nationally ranked Seagulls.  Salisbury's second half output was impressive as the visitors shot over 70% from the field on way to a 78-55 win.

Carter continued her dominance on the boards today pulling down 13 to lead the Lions as well as scoring the game high for both teams with her 18 points.  The Blue and White have a big game this coming Wednesday January 28th when they travel to face York College who is also 3-7 in CAC play.
