Carmo and Carter earn All-Tournament Team Honors in Championship Loss

Selinsgrove, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg was coming off an impressive 65-59 win over the Staten Island Dolphins in Saturday's first round game of the Susquehanna Pepsi Tip Off Tournament which earned the Lions a spot in Sunday's Championship against the hosting Crusader's.  Harrisburg held strong for most of the game, but eventually ran out of steam and suffered a 61-41 loss.

Penn State Harrisburg had a hard time early on going down 8-1 until Kaitlyn Carmo (Palmyra, Pa. / Palmyra) made a layup just over five minutes into the game. Rebecca Bailey (Tobyhanna, Pa. / Notre Dame East Stroudsburg) answered Carmo's layup with a steal to send Penn State Harrisburg for another opportunity on the offensive side and showing the host they would not be cruising to an early victory.  The Crusaders were able to slowly work up an eight point lead heading into the locker rooms with a score of 25-17.

Jasmine Yanich (Harrisburg, Pa. / Susquehanna Townships) started the second half by scoring two to bring the Lions within six points.  Unfortunately, Penn State Harrisburg was not able to stop Susquehanna for most of the second half and the Crusaders were able to cruise to a 61-41 win.

Penn State Harrisburg were not only the runners-up in the 2014 annual Susquehanna Pepsi Tip- off Tournament but received two all-tournament selections thanks to the strong weekend by  Carter and Carmo.  Carter finished the weekend with a total of 20 points and 24 rebounds while Carmo finished the tournament with a total of 19 points and 15 rebounds.

The Lady Lions will return to action on Tuesday night, Nov. 25th at 6pm to travel to face off against Messiah College.
