Lady Lions Drop Tough One to D’Youville

February 25, 2008

Middletown, PA — The D'Youville College Lady Spartans proved to be too much for the Penn State Harrisburg Lady Lions Sunday afternoon at the Capital Union Building, defeating them 75-39 in the North Eastern Conference(NEAC) finale for both teams. Penn State Harrisburg ends the season with a record of 2-14 in the NEAC and 4-20 overall. With the win, D'Youville wins the regular season championship of the NEAC, finishing with a conference record of 14-2 and 20-5 overall.

Early in the ball game the Blue and White hung tough standing toe to toe with the NEAC leaders only finding themselves down 14-10 seven minutes into the game. After the close start, D'Youville started to flex their muscle, outscoring the Lady Lions 28-5 the rest of the first half. Penn State Harrisburg did finish the half on a high note, scoring the last six points and being down 42-21 at the end of the half.

Penn State Harrisburg played the Lady Spartans a little closer in the second half and had a few good scoring spurts puttin on an impressive show. D'Youville was just too tough overall that they were able to keep their cool during those spurts and return the favor on the Lady Lions, and finished up the game winning 75-39. Despite D'Youville having a sizeable height advantage, with having two girls over six feet tall, the Lady Lions of Penn State Harrisburg never let that frustrate them, and they in fact outrebounded the Lady Spartans 43-39.

Penn State Harrisburg was led by Jamie Bissot (Swiftwater, PA/Pocono Mt. East) with 10 points and Krystal Miranda (South Bound Brook, NJ/Bound Brook) who had 10 points and 5 assists. D'Youville College was led by Angel Clark who scored a game-high 22 points. Holly Beats had 17 points and 8 rebounds for the Lady Spartans as well.

This was final home game for the Lady Lions of the 2007-2008 basketball season.
