Softball Keeps Rolling In Sweep of Lancaster Bible

LANCASTER, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's softball team remained perfect in conference play thanks to a doubleheader sweep of United East foe Lancaster Bible on Saturday afternoon, March 26. The Lions took game one 10-2 in six innings before earning a 10-0, five-inning victory in the nightcap.

GAME 1

Penn State Harrisburg (8-5, 3-0 United East) used a big fourth inning to blow open a close game and roll to a 10-2 victory over Lancaster Bible (0-11, 0-3 United East) in the first outing of a conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.

Madelyn Krantz went 4-for-4 with two doubles, Olivia Herncane was 3-for-3, Madeline English finished 3-for-4, and McKenzie Boozel had a two-hit game. Carissa Yeager earned the win inside the circle, allowing just two runs on five hits.

After an Emma Einarson RBI single scored English to put the Lions on the board first in the top of the second inning, the Blue & White used five hits and three LBC errors to put up six runs in the top of the fourth. Lauren Hess, Krantz, Herncane, and Booze all drove in runs during the game-changing stanza.

The Lions tacked on three more runs in the top of the sixth and Yeager kept Lancaster Bible from drawing to within seven, instead holding off a late LBC rally to end the game one inning early.

GAME 2

After putting up 10 runs in a game-one victory on Saturday afternoon, it was more of the same for Penn State Harrisburg (9-5, 4-0 United East) in a 10-0, five-inning win over Lancaster Bible (0-12, 0-4 United East) in the second outing of the day.

Madelyn Krantz, Madelyn Lehigh, and Olivia Herncane all had two-hit performances, with Lehigh and McKenzie Boozel driving in three runs apiece. Carissa Yeager picked up her second win of the day inside the circle, allowing just four hits.

The Lions did nearly all of their damage in the fifth and final inning after a Lehigh double in the top of the first drove in Krantz to open the game's scoring. The visitors plated nine runs on six hits, two Lancaster Bible errors, and three walks to blow the game open before Yeager took care of the Chargers in the bottom of the fifth to end the game.
