How It Happened

Penn State Harrisburg faced off with local Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) foe York (Pa.) College.

The contest was a pitcher's duel and in the circle for the Lions was Allison Hartman. Hartman would have one of her career best outings, striking out 15 Spartan batters setting a new single game school record in the process. She would limit the Spartans to four hits, allowing a single run in the third inning.

Meanwhile the Lions offense struggle to find its rhythm early in the game. After falling behind 1-0, Harrisburg looked to answer in the bottom of the third inning. Kaylee Simon would led the inning off with a walk and Sierra Dixon recorded an infield single to put runners on base. Katie Humphrey would lay down a sacrifice bunt to move both runners into scoring position, later in the contest Humphrey would become the school's All-Time leader in the category. Sarah Coolbaugh's walk would load the bases, but the Lions could not manage to plate a tying run.

The Blue & White would get runners on base in the fourth, fifth, and seventh innings, but could not drive any across the plate, falling 1-0.
