How It Happened

Harrisburg recovered from its game one defeat, and after falling behind 1-0 in the third inning, the Lions offense would come alive. Maddie Krantz would lead off the inning by crushing a double down the left field line and off the fence. Sierra Dixon would follow with a single down the right field line to put runners on the corners. Katie Humphrey got the Lions on the scoreboard hitting a line shot off the Seagulls first baseman, allowing Krantz to score. After a Nina Bruno single loaded the bases, Allison Hartman singled into right center field allowing Dixon to score. Later in the inning, Kaylee DeMatteo would deliever a two single into center field scoring Burno and putting Harrisburg ahead 3-1.

The Lions would strike again in the fifth inning. Bruno would lead off the inning with a single to right field. Allison Hartman followed hitting a slow roller up the middle that was field by the Seagulls starting pitcher Alexis Layton who over threw first base, sending the ball into the outfield. Alertly Bruno scampered third base and when the throw from right field was off line, she scored putting Harrisburg ahead 4-1.

Kaylee Simon, the Lions starting pitcher, held the Seagulls to one run through the first four innings. After Salisbury cut the Lions lead to 4-3 in the third inning on a two-run homerun, the Blue & White turned to game one starter Hartman. The Lions would carry the 4-3 advantage into the seventh inning, but the Seagulls would capitalize on a triple to tie the game at four. After a double, the Seagull's looked to pick up the win, but Delaney Nevius robbed a double at the fence and made a great throw to hold the runner at second base. In the next at bat the Seagulls lifted a single up the middle, but center fielder Katie Humphrey made an excellent throw home to send the game in extra innings.

The game would remain scoreless until the Salisbury plated a run in the bottom of the ninth to capture the 5-4 victory.
