Marquardt, Ruiz Lead the Way at NEAC Championships

COBLESKILL, N.Y. – Penn State Harrisburg's men's and women's cross country teams were in action at the 2019 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championships hosted by SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday, Nov. 2.

 

As a whole, the women's squad earned a ninth-place finish, while the men's team came home 10th as a group. Abagail Marquardt led the way for the women, while Camilo Ruiz was the highest finisher on the men's side.

 

Marquardt completed the 6k event in 30:12.6; a time good enough to earn her a 36th-place finish out of 74 total runners. Next up for the women was Jameraquai May in 62nd place, followed by Abbey Nelson one spot behind. Jennifer Ross, Neeyah Turner and Aiyala McPhee rounded out the group for the Blue & White.

 

On the men's side, Ruiz finished off the 8k course in 31:18, coming home 38th out of 93 total competitors in the process. Patrick Workman secured a 48th-place finish behind a run of 32:06.3, followed by the rest of the team's contingency in Charles-Antoine Sokohl, Dominick Hogans, Carlos Rodriguez and Andrew Bomberger.

 

SUNY Cobleskill won the men's team title. The Fighting Tigers were paced by individual champion Jared Craw. Cobleskill's women also won the team championship, while Penn State Berks' Michelle Kiss claimed the individual conference title.
