Nittany Lions Place at Annual Achtzen Classic

York, Pa.- This past weekend the Penn State Harrisburg men's and women's cross country teams traveled to York College to run in the Sixth Annual Coach Achtzehn Classic. Both teams had runners place in the top fifty. 

 The men's team as a whole placed fourth out of five very competitive teams such as York, St. Mary's, and Baltimore City. The host team had several alumni return for the race who placed in the top five. For the Nittany Lions, Jordan Fuhrman, Derrick Allabaugh (Wyalusing, Pa. / Northeast Bradford), and Korey Christian (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y. / Walter Panas) all placed in the top fifty runners. Furhman placed the highest out of the Lions with a time of 33:18. 

 For the women, Junior Kaitlin Gould (Camp Hill, Pa. / Cedar Cliff) placed the highest with a time of 31:56. Her teammate, Kyla Line (Harrisburg, Pa. / Bishop McDevitt) was not far behind with a time of 32:57. 

 Coach Danielle Lynch stated, "Our men and women competed well in the rain during our meet at York. This was our ladies first 6K of the season and a great opportunity for growth. I am proud of both teams and the effort they put forth as they continue to improve as a team and as individuals." 

 Both teams will travel to St. Mary's College (Md.) on Saturday September 19th for the Seahawks Invitational. The women's race begins at 9:30 with the men following at 10:30 am.
