YORK, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's 2013 season got underway in York on Saturday morning, Sep. 14 when the Lions took part in York (Pa.) College's Coach Achtzhen Classic.  As a team, the Blue & White finished ninth out of 12 squads while freshman Nicholas Sturm (Hamburg, Pa. / Hamburg) posted the team's best individual performance with a time of 28:52, good enough for an impressive 33rd overall finish out of 114 runners.  Franklin & Marshall took home the team title while York's Tim Hartung won the top individual honor with a time of 27:02.

Sophomore Kyle Klaboe (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin East) was the Lions' second-best finisher thanks to his time of 30:36, good enough for a 61st place finish. Freshman Joseph Phifer (Union, N.J. / Union) was Penn State Harrisburg's next highest finisher and his time of 31:39 was good enough for a 74th place finish.  Sophomore Jordan Fuhrman (Columbia, Pa. / Hempfield) wasn't far behind and finished 79th with a time of 31:46 while fellow sophomore Edgar Makimoto (Middleburg, Pa. / Selinsgrove Area) posted an 85th place finish thanks to a time of 32:45. 

Sophomore Adam Campbell (Columbia, Pa. / Hempfield) used a time of 33:09 to come home in the 88th position and junior Thomas Chaney (Lancaster, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg) finished three spots behind him in 91st with a time of 33:51.  Sophomores Lucas Boerman (Mohnton, Pa. / Twin Valley) and Tyler Fry (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin East) came home with top 100 spots thanks to times of 34:23 and 35:09, respectively.

Freshmen Korey Christian (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y. / Walter Panas) and James Keith (Philadelphia, Pa. / Imhotep) and junior Malcolm Parker (Mount Rainier, Md. / Northwestern) rounded out the Lions runners at Saturday's meet.  All three runners finished the 8 kilometer course in less than 41 minutes.

Penn State Harrisburg will next be in action on Saturday, Sep. 21 when the Lions take part in the Messiah Invitational.
