David Moore joined Penn State Harrisburg’s Track & Field/Cross Country program as an assistant coach in January 2015, where he helps mentor athletes in both cross country and the endurance events.

Since joining the Nittany Lions’ squad, Moore has helped several athletes achieve new personal bests in the middle- and long-distance events. In the track & field program’s inaugural year Moore also helped lead 800-meter runner, Joey Phifer, to 3^rd (indoor) and 4^th (outdoor) place finishes at the 2015 CAC Track and Field championships, as well as 13^th (indoor) and 7^th (outdoor) place finishes at the 2015 ECAC DIII championships.

Moore comes to the PSU-Harrisburg coaching staff after serving 4 years (2011-2014) as an assistant with the boys’ cross country program at State College Area High School.  While at State College, he helped guide the Little Lions to 2 PIAA District VI team victories, a Mid-Penn conference team championship, as well as a 4th place team finish at the PIAA state cross country championships.

Moore is a two-time graduate of Penn State University, earning his B.S. in Biology in 2007 and his Ph.D. in Physiology in 2014. While attending Penn State, he competed in cross country and track & field (receiving Academic All-Big 10 honors) under the guidance of coach Harry Groves.
