T&F Braves Winter Weather to Compete at Susquehanna

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's men's and women's track & field teams braved the weekend's wintry weather to compete at the Orange and Maroon Classic and Multi hosted by Susquehanna on Saturday, Jan. 18.

 

Andrew Bomberger, Dominick Hogans and Alex White all earned victories for the men's squad, with Bomberger turning in an especially strong effort en route to winning the pole vault event. The junior set a new program record with a top effort of 4.35 meters; a mark good enough to rank him 30th in the nation.

 

Hogans was victorious in the 200m dash thanks to his run of 23.15 seconds in the event. The sophomore also joined teammates Michael Vinson, Khaled Budeir and Alex Terody to compete in the 4x200m relay before taking part in the 4x400m relay along with Terody, Camilo Ruiz and Charles-Antoine Sokohl.

 

White came home first in a pair of events. The senior won the high jump with a top leap of 1.88 meters before taking the top spot in the long jump thanks to his best leap of 6.68 meters.

 

Elsewhere on the men's side, Bomberger, Terody, Vinson and Carlos Rodriguez took part in the 60m dash, while Terody and Vinson ran in the 200m dash. Ruiz competed in the 400m dash, as well as the 800m run along with Sokohl. Sokohl and Ricardo Lugo ran the mile, Rodriguez took part in the 60m hurdles, Sean Myron competed in the weight throw and Myron, Joseph Rebarchak and Bomberger were all in action in the shot put.

 

Neeyah Turner had a nice outing for the women's team, as the junior finished fourth in the 60m hurdles thanks to a time of 9.84 seconds; a mark good enough to rank her second in program history. She also just missed out on a top-10 finish in the 60m dash with a time of 8.76 seconds. Finally, she teamed up with Aiyala McPhee, Jameraquai May and Alexandria Morrison to run a 1:56.38 in the 4x200m relay; an effort strong enough to secure a third-place finish.

 

McPhee competed in the 60m dash and May was in action in the 200m dash. Abagail Marquardt and Jennifer Ross ran the 800m and the pair was joined by Morrison in the mile run. May joined the trio to compete in the 4x400m relay, while Jamilyn Nimo took part in both the shot put and weight throw events.

 

The Blue & White will next be in action at the Gulden Invitational hosted by Bucknell on Saturday, Jan. 25.
