Clayton, Yon Lead Way at Swarthmore Final Qualifier Meet

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's men's and women's track & field teams got one last go around in before the ECAC Division III Championships later this week and next weekend's NCAA Division III Championships, taking part in Swarthmore's Final Qualifier Meet on Monday afternoon, May 13.

 

The men saw Cameron Yon and Jalil Clayton earn victories, with Yon's win coming thanks to a toss of 53.92 meters in the discus throw and Clayton's first-place finish clinched when he ran a 14.88 in the 110m hurdles. Shammah Gahomera was also in action in both the 110m and 400m hurdle events.

 

Sarah Lehman's runner-up finish in the triple jump led the way for the women, as her leap of 11.28 meters was good enough to secure second place. Rae Rae Taylor earned a fourth-place finish after bounding 5.35 meters in the long jump, while Aiyala McPhee posted a top-10 finish in the 200m dash thanks to her jaunt of 26.42 seconds. Taylor also took part in the 100m hurdles, Lehman joined her in the long jump and Neeyah Turner competed in the 400m hurdles.

 

With the season winding down, the Lions will now turn their attention to the 2019 ECAC Division III Championships held at Southern Connecticut State and beginning at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, May 13.
