White Leads Harrisburg at Spartan Invitational

Over the weekend the Penn State Harrisburg men's and women's track and field teams participated in the 2017 Spartan Regional Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. Both sides had several strong individual performances for their first meet of the new year.

Men's Results
Men's High Jump: Alex White finished 1st for the Blue and White with an impressive distance of 1.93 meters for the men's high jump. His finish has also qualified him for ECAC standards. White also finished seventh in the men's triple jump

Men's 60 Meter Dash: Josiah Owhe finished 11th overall with a distance of 7.17 meters

Men's 200 Meter Dash: Jalil Clayton placed fifth for the Lion's with a time of 22.58 seconds. Vladhimir Theophile was next for Harrisburg with a finish of 23.40 seconds

Men's 400 Meter Dash: Two runners finished in the top ten for Harrisburg with times of 51.35 seconds and 51.56 seconds. Theophile placed sixth with Clayton right behind in seventh. Xavier Smith placed 17th with a finish of 52.62 seconds

Men's Long Jump: Jared Alpaugh's jump of 6.32 meters placed him fourth with teammate Josiah Owhe right behind in fifth with a distance of 6.30 meters 

Women's Results 

Women's 1 Mile Run: Veronic Repetz placed 13th with a time of 5:53 followed by Logan Akers in 21st place with a time of 6:11

Women's 60 Meter Hurdles: Ashley Williams placed third overall with a time of 9.11 seconds. Williams finished first for Division III and is currently ranked fifth in the country for the 60 meter hurdles

Head coach Danielle Lynch stated, "We faced some tremendous competition at our New York meet. We competed against all divisions and has some really nice results. Freshman Alex White won the Division III men's high jump with an ECAC qualifying standard. Ashley Williams improved her national ranking and also was first for Division III." 

The women placed 15th overall as a team in the event while the men posted a 13th place finish. Both sides will travel to Susquehanna University on Saturday January 21st for the Orange and Maroon Classic.
