Yon Headed to NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships

Middletown, Pa. - Cameron Yon has qualified in the men's discuss to participate in the NCAA Championships being held in Waverly, Iowa at Wartburg College May 26th - May 28th.  Yon is the first Penn State Harrisburg Track and Field Athlete to make the NCAA Outdoor Championships.  

With Penn State Harrisburg's track and field teams entering just their second year of competition, the Lions are proud to be sending their first athlete to the NCAA Outdoor Championships.  Yon, a freshman out of Patuxent River, Maryland will travel to Iowa to compete in the men's discus.  After winning the men's discus at many meets throughout the year, Yon capped off his year so far with a win at the CAC Outdoor Championship and recently finished second at the ECAC Outdoor Championship. Yon is currently seeded 14th with a personal best of 49.69 meters (163.02 feet).

The NCAA Championships will start this Thursday May 26th and run through the May 28th.  For Live results throughout the event check out the Penn State Harrisburg athletics website.
