Several Lions Place for CAC's

Kutztown, Pa.- Last night the Penn State Harrisburg men's and women's track team participated in the Golden Bear Invitational held by Kutztown University. Several athletes qualified for the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Indoor Track and Field Championship as well as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Indoor Championship.

The highlight of the meet for Penn State Harrisburg was freshman Ashley Williams (Easton, Pa. / Easton Area High School) taking first place in the women's 55 meter hurdles. Williams performance has ranked her among the top 10 in the nation. The meet's timing system failed several times throughout the event and no official times were able to be recorded.

Cameron Yon (Patuxent River, MD / Great Mills High School) qualified for CAC's in the mens shot put. The men's relay team, consisting of Korey Christian (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y / Walter Panas), Isaiah Waters (Montclair, NJ / Montclair High School), Jalil Clayton (Chester, PA / Chester High School), and Vladimir Theophile (Reading, Pa. / Cherry Hill East High School) also qualified for CAC's. The ECAC qualifiers from the meet included: Josiah Owhe (Westbury, N.Y. / Westbury) in the long jump and Clayton in the high jump.

Head Coach Danielle Lynch had several positive things to say about the both teams accomplishments, "Our team faced a great deal of adversity at this competition that went from 5 PM to 12:30 AM.  They handled it with grace and were able to post some great performances."

Up next for both teams will be the Susquehanna Maroon Classic hosted by Susquehanna University. The meet is scheduled for Friday January 22nd. The time has not yet been determined.
