M. Tennis Sweeps Penn College In Conference Opener

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - After weather forced a nearly two-week hiatus, Penn State Harrisburg's men's tennis team returned to action with a 9-0 sweep of United East foe Penn College in the team's conference opener at the Hoverter Tennis Complex on Tuesday afternoon, April 5.

The Lions set the tone in doubles play, with the top duo of Caleb Fockens and Sachin Venkatesh earning a 6-4 win, while Nick Rohn and Andrew Schreck combined for an 8-2 victory in the No. 2 outing and Rishikesh Singh and Evan Stillwell earning an 8-0 sweep in the third contest.

That momentum carried over into singles action, as Fockens secured a 6-2, 6-4 decision in the No. 1 solo matchup to lead the way. Venkatesh defeated Paul Langbein 6-4, 6-2 in the second contest, while Aaron Krasley made quick work of Jesse Kight in a 6-0, 6-0 win in the No. 3 outing. Schreck handled Tommy Cavanaugh 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 4 slot, Rohn rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 in the fifth pairing, and Derwin Merca breezed to a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Grayson Tanner in the No. 6 match.

Winners of three in a row, the Lions will look to keep rolling when they host Messiah for a non-conference tilt on Thursday afternoon, April 7.
