Men's Tennis Clinches First Conference Victory

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's men's tennis team edged Frostburg State 5-4 to pick up its first Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) victory of the spring at the Hoverter Tennis Complex on Saturday afternoon, April 13.

 

Doubles play saw the Lions (8-9, 1-5 CAC) jump out to a 2-1 advantage. The Blue & White's No. 1 duo of Sachin Venkatesh and Isaac George came away with an 8-4 victory over FSU's Shasta Braithwaite and Nate Farlow, while Alex Kurtz and Anthony Brominski earned an 8-6 decision against the Bobcats' Justin Davis and Chad O'Neal in the No. 3 contest.

 

Singles play saw George make quick work of Farlow with a 6-2, 6-1 win in the second matchup, while Gluck went over Thompson 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 3 outing. Austin Stehman clinched the victory for Penn State Harrisburg with a well-played 6-4, 7-5 win against Davis in the No. 4 match.

 

The Lions will host their penultimate home outing when they welcome Immaculata to the Hoverter Tennis Complex for non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon, April 16.
