Blue & White Ends Season With Victory Over Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg ended its 2014 campaign in high fashion when the Lions traveled to Lebanon Valley and topped the Dutchmen 6-3 in a non-conference matchup that also happened to be their season finale on Thursday afternoon, Apr. 24.

The Blue & White picked up two victories in doubles action when the team's top pairing of sophomore Ben Leibig (Lebanon, Pa. / Lebanon) and freshman Chris Magee (Westminster, Md. / Manchester Valley) topped LVC's Ryan Weitzel and Jordan Shankroff 8-3.  The Lions' number two duo of sophomore Alex Koltun (Mount Gretna, Pa. / Cedar Crest) and senior captain Vincent Lepore III (Chepachet, R.I. / Ponaganset) had to work hard to earn their win but pulled out a 9-7 victory over the Dutchmen's Andrew Wilson and Jonathan Hastings.

Leading 2-1 heading into singles action, Penn State Harrisburg padded its lead when Leibig defeated Weitzel 6-3, 6-4 in the top matchup and Magee knocked off Shankroff 6-3, 6-1 in the number two slot.  In his last collegiate match, Lepore celebrated his 22nd birthday in style by using a three set, super breaker win over Wilson (6-1, 4-6, 10-4) in the number four spot to keep the Lions' advantage steady.  Penn State Harrisburg freshman Austin King (Manheim, Pa. / Manheim Central) capped off the team's singles success by topping Lebanon Valley's Nick Jones 6-1, 7-6, 10-2 in the battle of each team's number six players.

The victory over Lebanon Valley stopped the Lions' recent seven-match skid and ended the team's season on a high note.  Penn State Harrisburg finishes its most recent campaign with an overall record of 6-11.
