Harrisburg Cruises at Home Over Berks

Middletown, Pa. - The Penn State Harrisburg men's tennis team played with poise and confidence against former rival Penn State Berks Tuesday March 18th.    The hometown Lions were able to cruise to a 9-0 win in their spring season home opener.

Harrisburg started out a little shaky, but eventually pulled it together and started to play strong as the sets went on. The first doubles team of Ben Leibig (Lebanon, Pa. / Lebanon) and Chris Magee (Westminster, Md. / Manchester Valley) battled back from being down 1-4 and 2-5 to eke out the win 9-7.  Johnny Xue (Blue Hill, Maine / George Stevens Academic) played well in his first set at #1 singles, but relaxed a little too much in the second set to last year's NEAC Player of the Year Drew Weinhold.    Xue came back strong in the third set to take claim the victory.

The rest of the Harrisburg men were able to win with ease, as the #2 through #6 spots in singles all won in straight sets.  Harrisburg has some time to work on their strokes before travelling to Lebanon Valley College Wednesday March 26th for 3:30 p.m. start.
