Penn State Harrisburg Soccer Camp Frequently Asked Questions

Who should attend Penn State Harrisburg Boy’s and Girls’ Soccer Camp?

  • Every camper will receive individual attention with an emphasis on improving fundamentals and skills necessary for skillful soccer play.  Players come in all ages, sizes, and abilities with varying needs.  Our camp is structured to meet each participant’s individual needs, whether he/she is a returning high school letterman or a beginner at the elementary school level.  We tailor our program and the team grouping to meet their current ability and where they need to develop.

Who will be my son or daughters counselors?

  • Head Coach and Camp Director Adam Clay and Daniel Krzyzanowicz  brings a combined 40+ years of coaching experience as well as professional playing experience to Penn State Harrisburg.  Members of Coach K's and Coach Clay's PSU Harrisburg coaching staff, other college and professional level coaches lead each group or team.  They are assisted with current and former Penn State Harrisburg soccer Student-Athletes.
  • All of our counselors have worked with our coaching staff in the past and must go through yearly background and clearance checks in order to work with minors.

Where do we drop off and pick up for camp?

  • Day Camp/Commuters:  All campers are dropped off and picked up daily at the Capital Union Building.
  • Campus Map Link

Are parents allowed to watch camp?

  • Parents may stop in and watch camp activities anytime during your son/daughters’ camp stay.

Where do campers eat?

  • Campers dine in our Stack’s food court.  We provide a balanced menu that is youth friendly!
  • In event your child has special dietary needs; please notify coaching staff at time of registration so we can make accommodations.

What does my son/daughter need for camp?

  • Day Camp Recommendations:  Double check schedule for shirt color to be worn each day.
    • Wear/bring to camp – water bottle, shorts/pants to play in, shirt/jersey, soccer socks, shin guards and any other protective equipment needed.
    • Additional items – extra short, shirt and socks. Pool days you will need a swimming suit and towel.

Do we need to bring any training equipment to camp?

  • No - we provide soccer balls and all necessary training equipment for the entire camp.

  • Other Recommendations/Notes:
    • The camp is not responsible for lost items.  If your camper chooses to carry a bag around during camp sessions, please make sure the bag is clearly identifiable and labeled with his name.
    • For campers who need to carry medication with them throughout the camp day, we recommend a string backpack labeled clearly with the camper’s name or to communicate with camp staff and athletic trainer of any special needs.

What is the Camper Scholarship Program?

  • Through the generous gift of Highmark and United Concordia, Penn State Harrisburg offers scholarships for up to 90% of the total cost to attend camp.
  • In order to qualify students must not have begun classes for the ninth grade (therefore existing 8thgraders who are in the summer before their ninth grade year may receive scholarship) and they must be part of a school district “free or reduced lunch program”.
  • Families must provide documentation in order to qualify for this scholarship program.  These funds are on a first-come first-serve basis.

Why do I need to fill out health form for my son/daughter?

  • We provide a trainer at all activities.  In the event your son needs medical attention, we’ll be able to act quickly and know exactly where to contact you.  You’ll be notified immediately upon any medical emergency.
