How It Happened

Top-seeded Penn State Harrisburg will play for the 2019 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championship after edging No. 5 Lancaster Bible in penalty kicks in the NEAC Tournament Semifinals at Nittany Soccer Field on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 9.

After playing 110 minutes of scoreless soccer, the Lions (14-5-1) and Chargers (14-4-3) had to settle things with PKs. LBC's first attempt was high and Blue & White goalkeeper Nicholas Guglielmetti made a great save on the visitors' second attempt.

Haydyn Zagorski got things started for Penn State Harrisburg by converting his PK and Luke Myers and Darion Ferreira followed suit. With a chance to end it, Jacob Krantweiss buried the deciding penalty kick to send the Lions to the championship tournament's title game on Sunday.

Each team failed to convert penalty shot opportunities during regulation, with Lancaster Bible being denied by a stellar diving save from Guglielmetti early in the second half. The goalkeeper made another outstanding diving stop on an LBC scoring chance in the 69th minute.

Inside the Numbers

- Saturday's game was the first time Penn State Harrisburg went to PKs since a playoff game at St. Mary's (Md.) a year ago.

- The Lions outshot Lancaster Bible 15-to-11 on the day.

- The Chargers put seven shots on frame, compared to four by the Blue & White.

- Penn State Harrisburg earned six corner kicks, while the visitors earned five.

- Nicholas Guglielmetti made seven pivotal stops in goal on the day.

- LBC goalkeeper Jake Deterline made four saves.

- No. 6 Keuka defeated No. 2 Penn State Abington in the second semifinal contest.

Who's Next?

The Lions host Keuka at Nittany Soccer Field in the NEAC Championship Game on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 10. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
