How It Happened

Penn State Harrisburg scored early and held on for a 1-0 shutout victory over SUNY Poly at Nittany Soccer Field on Friday afternoon, Nov. 1. The victory clinched the 2019 North Eastern Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship for the Blue & White.

A foul by the Wildcats (12-6, 8-2 NEAC) gave the Lions (14-4, 10-0 NEAC) the early opportunity they needed and Joey Aman didn't disappoint, as he gave the home team an advantage it wouldn't relinquish with a marker in the game's fourth minute.

The ensuing 85 minutes saw the visitors get off just three shots and goalkeeper Nicholas Guglielmetti proved game when called upon by making a pair of crucial saves to preserve the slim lead down the stretch.

SUNY Poly's final chance came on a corner kick with less than a minute remaining but the Penn State Harrisburg back line did its job, clearing the ball, sealing the victory and securing the Lions hosting rights for the upcoming NEAC Championship Tournament.
