How It Happened

Penn State Harrisburg fell by the slimmest of margins in the team's 2019 season opener, dropping a hard-fought 1-0 decision to Moravian at Nittany Soccer Field on Friday afternoon, August 30.

The Lions (0-1) controlled the ball for much of the contest but were unable to grab the early advantage or connect on the equalizer when playing from behind. The difference proved to be a penalty kick converted by the Greyhounds' Anthony Nagy midway through the first half after a Moravian player was fouled inside the Blue & White box in the 21st minute.

The home team had a handful of good looks, including a pretty shot fired off by Jacob Krantweiss that required a diving save from goalkeeper Michael Bone in the 30th minute. Mohammed Kotby's attempt in the 70th minute got through the back line but again Bone was there to turn it away.

The last best chance for Penn State Harrisburg came when Aaron Cummings pushed a header towards the Moravian goal with little more than a minute to play but Bone corralled it and effectively put an end to the Lions' hopes for overtime.

Inside the Numbers

- The Lions got off 10 shots, including five on target, compared to just seven total and four on goal by Moravian.

- The Blue & White held a commanding 12-to-1 edge in corner kicks.

- A total of five yellow cards were issued in the opener.

- Anthony Nagy's penalty kick for the Greyhounds provided the game's only marker.

- Penn State Harrisburg goalkeeper Nicholas Guglielmetti made three saves on the day.

- Michael Bone made five stops in goal to earn the win for the visitors.
