How It Happened

A late-game penalty kick from Ethan Hoover proved the difference in Penn State Harrisburg's 1-0 victory over Susquehanna at the Nittany Soccer Field on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 3.

Hoover scored the lone goal in an otherwise defensive struggle with just 3:36 left to play in regulation after a teammate was fouled in the box by River Hawks' goalkeeper Kyle Speckhart while chasing down a loose ball. The team captain fired his attempt past a diving Speckhart to break the scorless tie in the 86th minute.

The Lions (12-1) were the more aggressive team for much of the contest, especially ramping up the intensity as the second half ticked away. The Blue & White got off six shots in the final 45 minutes, compared to just one attempt by SU (1-7-2).
