Blue & White Dominate in Home Opener

Middletown, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg men's soccer team left no doubt in their first home contest of the season against the Delaware Valley Aggies on Saturday September 5th.  After a slow start, the Lions got hot in the final fifteen minutes of the first half to take a 3-0 lead after the first 45 minutes of play.

The Lions first goal of the day took some time, but once Alex Panuccio (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mehcanicsburg Area) opened the scoring after beating the Aggie GK and passing the ball into the net, it was all Harrisburg. Shortly after Harrisburg's Freshman Ethan Hoover (Gap, Pa. /Pequea Valley) sent a header soaring into the back of the goal off of Victor Weaver's (Lime, Peru/Seneca Valley) corner kick.

Weaver not only assisted with Harrisburg's first two goals scored but notched a goal of his own from a penalty kick to finish off the first half. This provided Harrisburg an advantage over the Aggie's going into the second half. Off of the assist from Panuccio, Jonathan Majin (Bolton, Nigeria/Milford) sealed the deal for Penn State Harrisburg with their fourth and final goal of the game early in the second half.

Penn State Harrisburg's truly dominated the bulk of the contest, taking 24 shots on goal while only allowing the Aggie's 10. The Lion's look to continue the strong level of play into their next game against the Goucher Gopher's at home on Tuesday September 8th at 4pm.
