Lions Shock Washington Adventist

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Harrisburg came into today's match with a record of 4-1 ready to face a similarly solid 4-1-1 Washington Adventist team.  The Shock was coming off a massive win over Division II Shippensburg University, who a week ago was ranked 17th in the nation.

Today's match was nothing short of spectacular if you are a Harrisburg fan, the Lions could not have wished for a better start scoring all three goals in the first half of play. The intensity and effort of the Harrisburg players was evident from the start. Fortunately,  teamwork was the theme of this game, as every pass seemed to find its target. The Harrisburg domination started with a crafty pass from Ricardo Quintana (Toluco, Mexico/ Avon Grove) that led to a cross from Victor Weaver (Gap, Pa./ Pequea) and then found Alex Panuccio (Mechanicsburg, Pa./ Mechanicsburg Area) for the first goal of the day. This goal seemed to open the gates for Harrisburg as Austin Katz (Lancaster, Pa. /Manheim Township) blew by five Adventist defenders and showed them what true ball control means as he found Aaron Kline (Lebanon, Pa./ Eastern Lebanon County) for his second goal of the day.

Ten minutes later a Mike Jones' (Harrisburg, Pa. /Central Dauphin) foul stopping a breakaway earned him a red card forcing the Blue and White to play a man down for the remaining 65 minutes.

Harrisburg's defense was up to the challenge led by Jon Willingham (Harrisburg, Pa. / Sci-Tech High) and Deven Gerhart (Newmanstown, Pa. / Eastern Lebanon County) who shot down any kind of attack from Adventist.   The lions kept control of the game all the way to an impressive 3-0 victory.

Harrisburg will look to take this momentum and their new 5-1 record into the next match at home against McDaniel on Tuesday September 23rd for a 6:00 pm kickoff.
